Abstract
Because living tissue generally exhibits anisotropic behavior, the loading directions should be considered in tensile tests. Estimating material parameters of the constitutive model that describes the mechanical behavior of living tissues requires experimental results in both longitudinal and circumferential loading directions for a sample obtained from the same region. However, obtaining such results in uniaxial tensile tests can be challenging. To address this, we propose a new methodology to estimate material parameters under uniaxial loading conditions by considering all possible matched pairs of data from the circumferential loading and the longitudinal loading. In addition, we examine the mechanical behavior of the aorta and material parameters according to the aortic region.
