Abstract

In this paper, we present 13.56 MHz high-efficiency power transmitter and power receiver for wirelessly powered biomedical implants. The power transmitter is designed using class-E PA and the power receiver is designed using controllable rectifier and current-mode PWM buck converter. At V{\mathrm{DD}} = 3.3 V, the output power and PAE of class-E PA are 26.7 dBm and 91.5% respectively. The controllable rectifier yields maximum PCE and VCE of 89.6% and 83.9% at 1 kΩ respectively. The efficiency of current-mode PWM buck converter at a switching frequency of 3 MHz with a loading current of 150 mA is 93.4%.
