Abstract

Design of a compact wideband double-balanced Schottky diode ring mixer is presented in this paper. The mixer consists of a microstrip-to-coplanar stripline transition for the RF input, a parallel stripline-to-microstrip line transition for the LO input, and a quad-ring Schottky diode. The proposed ring mixer exhibits good overall performance with low LO drive power of 8 dBm. The mixer operates over a wide frequency range from 2 GHz to 16 GHz and possesses good averaged conversion loss of 8.2 dB.
