Abstract
A novel method for Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV) optimization regarding urban driving cycles is presented in this paper. A functional minimum selection algorithm is proposed for use in optimizing the NEV efficiency in regards to mileage. The proposed scheme is simple and reasonable and based on electric motor and vehicle modeling. We used MATLAB for the two-seat NEV model simulation. This study incorporated a Lead-acid battery (72V, 85Ah) and a 10kW permanent magnet synchronous motor (PM motor). We compared changes in torque and driving range in the NEV using the European ECE-15, SFUDS, and Manhattan driving cycles.
