Abstract

Internet environment is rapidly being migrated towards 'mobile', but the current Internet was historically designed for 'static' environment and thus it is inevitably subject to architectural limitations in the mobile-oriented Internet environment. In this paper, we propose a new inter-networking architecture for the mobile-oriented Internet environment. For this, we first identify a set of requirements by analyzing the problems of the current Internet in the viewpoint of mobile-oriented Internet environments. Based on the requirements, we describe the proposed architecture with the three functional building blocks: Host ID and Local Locator (HILL), Dynamic and Distributed Mapping System (DDMS) and Query-First Data Delivery (QFDD). Finally, the proposed architecture is compared with the existing ones in various aspects.
