Abstract

AC brushless generator combined diesel engine is much used for the power supply equipment due to the stability and maintenance. This paper presents a novel selfstart circuit and CBS(Current Boosting System) for digital AVR in engine-generator system. At the starting of AC brushless generator, the output voltage from residual flux is very small. So, the AVR(Automatic Voltage Regulator) should feed-forward the small voltage to increase the output voltage during building up the control power of AVR. And the CBS is used for keeping the constant output voltage at a sudden line-short accident of generator. In this paper, proposed analog self-start circuit feedsforward the generator voltage when the controller power is turned-off. And the circuit adjusts the exciter field current to reduce the over-shoot of the output voltage regardless of input power. The CBS is controlled by SCR according to boost voltage. And the power of CBS is parallel connected to AVR power. So, the AVR controller can keep the power from generator input and CBS input. The proposed self-start and CBS for engine-generator are verified by experimental tests.
