Abstract

This paper presents a highly compact four elements multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna with triple band radiation characteristics. The proposed MIMO antenna consists of a spiral shaped radiating element and a modified ground plane. The antenna resonates at 1.8 GHz (1.75-1.82 GHz), 3.7 GHz (3.67-3.84 GHz) and 5.3 GHz (5.17-5.47 GHz) covering GSM and WLAN application bands. The isolation in the proposed MIMO antenna is achieved by means of the orthogonal arrangement of radiators and by using square ring shaped decoupling element. The designed antenna shows bidirectional radiation characteristics.
