Abstract

Battery electric vehicles can contribute to power system operation by controlling charge/discharge of the batteries. The vehicles are needed to be connected to grid to make the contributions. The data of private vehicle uses are necessary to perform studies on the management of electric vehicles. A survey of 52 vehicles was conducted in Japan. Depart and arrival time, destination, drive distance and purpose of drives are obtained with Global Positioning System (GPS) devices and questionnaire. The results were analyzed and it was found that it is possible to predict plug-in time in some cases.
