N2 - In this work, we propose an effective online face recognition system over the error-prone Internet. The proposed system uses multiple JPEG-compressed images to improve the recognition rate, and image compression and resizing to reduce the transmission delay and the processing delay. Further-more, the robustness is improved by effective packetization of compressed image data. First of all, we examine the face recognition rate in terms of quantization parameter and image size, and then implement the effective multiple-image-based face recognition system. Finally, experimental results are provided to show the performance comparison with existing algorithms over the error-prone Internet environment.
