Abstract

The UWB (Ultra-wideband) communication system occupies very large bandwidth of 7.5 GHz. This enables high-precision ranging that provides correct position information. In this paper, we analyzed each of high-order-phase chirps from 2nd-order to 4th-order for DS (Direct-Sequence)-UWB ranging and investigated to And out the optimal phase based on the mainlobe-1 sidelobe ratio which determines the ranging accuracy. Simulation results confirmed that the 3rd-order-phase chirp is optimal for ranging.
