Abstract
Orthodontic micro-implants can be used to facilitate tooth movement in many ways,1-3 including group distal movement of the entire dentition in nonextraction treatment of a Class II or Class III malocclusion. While the introduction of micro-implants expanded the boundaries of tooth move-ment, it also raised concerns about anatomical limits. One such limit might be the cortical plate of the alveolar or basal bone. If the roots do not remain within the alveolar bone housing during orthodontic treatment, the effects of tooth movement will be poorly tolerated.4-7.
