Abstract

5-axis miniaturized machine tools are more popular and useful in the machining area due to its powerful manufacturing properties and high accuracy. However, there are still many errors exist and one of those errors is geometric errors. In order to improve the accuracy of a 5-axis miniaturized machine tool, these errors should be compensated. In this paper, a novel laser measurement system for identifying the geometrical errors of a rotary axis of miniaturized 5-axis machine tools is proposed. The calibration of the system is also presented to improve the accuracy.
