Abstract
Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) uses a checksum in the common header for each packet, by which a corrupted SCTP packet will be regarded as a loss. This Letter proposes a new "chunk checksum" scheme for SCTP, in which each data chunk contains its own checksum field to determine a corruption of data chunk. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme could improve the throughput of SCTP transmission in the networks with a high bit error rate.
