Abstract

In this paper, an intelligent system for making Web merchandising plans and improving Web merchandising effectiveness is proposed for online retailers to succeed in gaining competitive advantage in highly competitive environment. The system utilizes data mining techniques and focuses on generating Web merchandising rules that are used to estimate customer’s demand and to plan merchandise for it. Additionally it concentrates on monitoring effectiveness of the merchandising rules over time, and refining the static merchandising rules or generating new rules for products.
