Abstract
This study aimed to design a high-speed roll-up door with consideration of the large deflection of windbar due to wind loads. To develop the nonlinear finite element model of roll-up doors, the horizontal displacements and vertical deflections of a single windbar were calculated and compared with those obtained by nonlinear beam theory. A finite element analysis on the roll-up doors was also performed to calculate the horizontal displacements and vertical deflections at three different wind speeds. Result showed that the vertical deflection and horizontal displacement of roll-up doors decreased nonlinearly with increased bending stiffness of the windbar. Finally, the stiffness and the windbar location determined the maximum or minimum displacements in horizontal and vertical directions.
