Abstract

The effect of Nb 2 O 5 content on dielectric characteristics of Sr 0.7 Ba 0.3 Nb 2 O 6 was investigated. The specimens with stoichiometry, Nb 2 O 5 -deficient, and Nb 2 O 5 -excess SBN70 were sintered at 1350C for two hours. X-ray diffraction analysis of Nb 2 O 5 -excess and Nb 2 O 5 -deficient specimens revealed second phases of Ba 3 Nb 10 O 28 and Sr 2 Nb 2 O 7 solid solutions, respectively. The formation of the second phases resulted in the change of Sr/Ba ratio in the matrix, which led to the variation of Curie temperature. The dielectric constant and DPT phenomena as a function of Nb 2 O 5 content were also analyzed.
