Abstract

A metallic glass steel trapping sulphide particles with the composition of Fe66-6C7-1Si3 3B5 5P8 7 Cr2 3Mo2 5Al2 0Co1 0S1 0 was fabricated using industrial raw materials. The effect of sulphide particle on pit corrosion in metallic glass steel was investigated by kinetic and microstructural analysis in 0 5M NaCl solution at room temperature. The electrochemical results indicated that the metallic glass steel was immune to pit corrosion in this environment. The dissolution of sulphide inclusion did not trigger pit corrosion of metallic glass steel since the stable passive film was formed easily on the fresh metal of glassy matrix.
