Abstract

The Cloud has the potential to bring benefits to the scientific community by hosting large-scale eScience environments on-demand. Trust for the data created and processed in e-Science environments in the Cloud can be estimated in terms of its provenance. This paper proposes property-based trust reasoning, which reduces the overhead involved in tracking the history of data in terms of its provenance using a semantic path of the Open Provenance Model (OPM). Moreover, domain-based trust reasoning is adopted to support the property-based reasoning scheme and to explore provenance patiis not known to users in the OPM using me domain specialty of an e-Science environment. The two types of trust reasoning, which form eTR-OPM, provide precise and efficient trust reasoning for the data with provenance.
