Fabrication and properties of Bi2212 rutherford superconducting cable

Abstract

Bi2212/Ag round wire can be used as large current capacity conductor fabricated in the shape of Rutherford cable. We have fabricated 110 m long Bi2212 Rutherford cable of 20 strand and 10 m long Bi2212 Rutherford cable of 30 strand and 8 strand by using our own Rutherford cabling machine. The critical current (Jc) of the reacted Rutherford cables have been measured at 4.2 K and 65 K, respectively. The magnetization (M) versus, magnetic field (H) and magnetic irreversibility (δW) versus, magnetic field (H) have been measured at 540 K in background magnetic field up to 8 T using PPMS instrument. It is estimated from δ-M that critical current density (Jc) of 20 strand Rutherford cable is higher than that of 30 strand Rutherford cablem.
