Abstract
Phosphors can be applied to related industries and the medical field because the fabrication process is simple and various emission spectra can be obtained by changing the activators. The rareearth phosphors are highly sensitive detectors for X-ray because of their high Znumber. The Gddoped lithium yttrium borate (Li6Y(BO3)3:Gd3+) phosphor was developed, and its luminescence properties have been studied. The Li6Y(BO3)3:Gd3+ phosphor was fabricated from Li2CO3, Y2O3, H3BO3 and Gd2O3 powders by using the soild-state reaction method. First, X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements were conducted to get the lattice constant and the structure of the phosphor. The luminescence properties for X-ray, UV and proton sources were compared, and the emission peaks were at 311 nm for the three sources.
