Abstract

A thermoresponsive poly(VCa-co-fluorophore) hydrogel labeled with fluorescent dye was prepared using conventional radical polymerization. A poly(VCa-co-fluorophore) copolymer consisting of N-vinylcaprolactam (VCa) and 2D-π-A type pyran-based fluorescent dye (fluorophore) units behaves as a temperature-driven fluorescent thermometer. This polymer in aqueous solution underwent a phase transition at 27-45 °C. The morphology of the internal microstructure of the poly(VCa-co-fluorophore) hydrogel was observed using SEM.
