Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Educational values are different m each society. That is because each society, institutions, and individual have a different point of view on education. Ultimately, this difference is derived from different community's culture and people's thoughts. Therefore, it is important to shape folk psychology and folk pedagogy. This research searched for Bruner's folk psychology and folk pedagogy theory and its implication for the future schooling. According to Bruner, there are four view of folk pedagogy on children: imitative learners, learners from didactic education, learners as thinkers, and knowledgeable learners. All points of view are invaluable, and there are no hierarchical relations among them. For future education, considering the rights of all students, teachers, institutions, parents, and society should mind students' abilities and their development stage. It is only possible when all participants in society efforts. In a nutshell, for our future education and our children, understanding education based on society's folk psychology and folk pedagogy is essential, and we should look for good direction.
