Abstract

Positioning technology for realization of Location Based Service (LBS) is being emphasized. For the goal of LBS, 'Seamless LBS', precise positioning results and more appropriate techniques are needed. In this paper, IEEE802.11 WLAN which is being extended due to its mobility, portability, and simplicity is considered for positioning. Recently, IEEE802.11 WLAN is getting more popular as the increase of its use at the university, airport, hospital, and public buildings and so on. By using this WLAN, we have studied indoor positioning technique to get reasonable positioning results at the indoor environments. First, we analyzed the signal characteristics of WLAN. After that, the each result applied various positioning algorithms are compared. Lastly, we propose the fusion algorithm to get the enhanced positioning results.
