Abstract

We have estimated the heat load due to an operating sequence and designed a cooling scheme for the coil, structure, and bus-line of the Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research (KSTAR) device cooled by supercritical helium. We have also estimated the heat load of the current lead cooled by liquid helium. Since the KSTAR will be operated in a pulse mode, the AC loss is dominant in the heat load. The cooling scheme of magnet system is presented. Discussion is given for the cooling parameters that consist of temperature, press, mass flow rate, etc.
