Abstract

A high-gain dipole antenna loaded with a double-sided dielectric lens for X-band applications is presented. The dipole antenna is fed by a coplanar strip (CPS) line, which is connected to an ultra-wideband CPS-to-microstrip line (MSL) transition (balun). The double-sided lens is a combination of an elliptical lens and a spherical lens formed on top and bottom sides of a dielectric square block. High-gain radiation characteristics are obtained from the proposed dipole antenna. The operating bandwidth of the proposed configuration is 8.67-12.65 GHz with a peak gain of 8.65 dB.
