Abstract
The new driving scheme for the independent control of R, G, B luminance of AC plasma display panels (PDP) by applying three different short pulses to the address electrodes during a sustain period is discussed. The plasma display panels (PDP) are the most promising flat panel devices for large area full color wall hanging high defination television (HDTV). The maximum enhancement of the R,G, and B luminance levels is obtained at pulse width of 200 ns. The new driving scheme is proposed to improve the color temperature of the AC plasma display panels (PDP) with symmetric cell structures without reducing the total luminance based on the independent luminance control of the R,G, and B visible emissions.
