Abstract

A multi-luminance-level subfield method was proposed to improve the low gray-level color reproducability of plasma display panel. It was shown that the luminance levels in 1-pulse and 2-pulse subfields could be fine-tuned into 5 luminance-steps by applying auxiliary pulses to address electrode in the same sustain-pulse subfields. Results confirmed that the multi-luminance-level subfield method could suppress a low gray-level contour in the inverse gamma corrected images of plasma-display-panel television.
