Abstract
Deciphering in situ structure of layer double hydroxides (LDHs) and their corresponding mechanism of oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is essential to further development of LDH-based OER catalysts. In this issue of Chem Catalysis, Ko et al. demonstrated a scalable synthesis of ultrathin Ni-Fe LDH nanostructure, its chemical oxidation process, and its catalytic mechanism by in situ/operando spectroscopies, paving a solid pathway to potential practical application of LDH-based catalysts.
