Abstract

This paper shows an effective current balancing technique of the input-parallel output-parallel (IPOP) current-fed (CF) isolated dc-dc converters using a double step-down (DSD) converter. Inhering the benefit of the DSD converter, the currents of each CF isolated dc-dc module can be automatically well-balanced regardless of the mismatch in the gate signals and the different characteristics of active and passive components in use. The simulation and experimental results are provided and assessed to illustrate the advantages of the proposed converter. Furthermore, the explanation and discussion on the obtained results are concisely presented.
