Abstract

Data produced out of microarray experiments is of great use for Physician when it is presented in meaningful manner. The discretization of continuous gene expression value by mutual information used in our previous genetic swarm algorithm based fuzzy expert system leads to loss of biological meaning. To overcome this difficulty, a hybrid fuzzy-rough set approach is proposed to redefine the criterion function of F-information to calculate the relevance and redundancy between genes without dividing their expression values into discrete parts.
