Abstract
An anomaly in the magnetization vs. field relation has been investigated for a pristine and a stage-I iodine intercalated Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 single crystal. Although the magnetization anomaly is clearly observed for pristine Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 between 20 and 40 K, it almost disappears with the iodine intercalation. The change in the magnetization anomaly due to the iodine intercalation is discussed in terms of the dimensional crossover in the pinning mechanism and the enhancement of interlayer coupling along the c-axis.
