Abstract
A method is proposed for determining a long life route based on node location information from the global positioning system (GPS) and the radio transmission range of the nodes. The method is much better than the pure shortest route selection scheme in wireless ad hoc network. Periodic exchange of the beacon signals from all adjacent nodes is avoided, resulting in a lower power consumption.
