Abstract
Phosphors are applied in medical fields and various industries, and rare-earth-containg materials are used for high-effective X-ray or gamma-ray detector because of their high effective Z-number. Boron and lithium have high neutron cross-sections, therefore, they can be applied to neutron imaging. In this study, Eu- or Sm-doped Li6Y(BO3)3 emission spectra obtained by using UV, X-ray and proton sources are compared. The Eu-doped Li6Y(BO3)3 phosphor shows emission in the waveleng range of 575-725, and the Sm-doped Li6Y(BO3)3 phosphor shows emission in the waveleng range of 550-700 nm. Thus, these materials can be used for neutron imaging and beam line monitoring of protons since because their emission spectra are well matched to CCDs in terms of quantum efficiency.
