Abstract

The construction of a subcanopy formulation of the eddy diffusivity for within canopy mixing, is discussed. The eddy diffusivity approach omits important physics such as transport counter to the local gradients by larger-scale sweeps. The nondimensional temperature gradients is normalized by the value at neutral conditions. The frequency distributions of the nocturnal wind direction indicated westerly flow with strong inversions, corresponding to cold air drainage down the eastward descending slope, just west to the tower site.
