Abstract

β-Bromovinyl aldehydes, which are readily available from ketones and PBr3/DMF/CHC1}, are aromatized with suitably electron withdrawing group substituted alkenes in THF at 125 °C in the presence of a catalytic amount of a palladium catalyst along with a base.
