Abstract

The Fe-based bulk metallic glass Fe66.6C7.1Si3.3 B5.5P8.7Cr2.3 Mo2.5Al2.0Co1.0S1 with a maximum diameter 7 mm was fabricated using hot metal and commercial raw materials. During rapid cooling solidification, sulfide particle precipitates before the temperature of melting metals decreases to glass transition temperature T(g) and then the remain melting metals will solidify into glassy microstructure. The precipitation of sulfide particles does not deteriorate the glass forming ability. The precipitation behavior of sulfide particles was analyzed in thermodynamics and the maximum content of sulphur is less 0.05% in this amorphous alloy without sulfide particles.
