abstract = "Hydrogels (microgels and nanogels) based on CMF or CNF were successfully prepared by adding cationic ions. Rheological and compression tests suggest that hydrogels induced by the Al3+ cation forms stronger interaction than those of Ca2+ and H+. As the cation valence decreases from Al3+, Ca2+, to H+, the surface area of both microgel and nanogel decreases while fibril diameter of two hydrogels increases. The drug release of hydrogels is closely related to their internal structure.",
