Abstract

Kidney plays a vital and essential role in functioning of the human system. Normally, damage to the kidney is identified using estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and ultrasound scans of the kidney. Typically, eGFR is determined from blood and urine tests. The possibilities of determining estimated glomerular filtration rate from ultrasound scans of the kidney in comparison with the renal parameters for detecting chronic kidney disease (CKD) are examined. Study has revealed a strong correlation toward the same which in turn leads to a possibility of developing a novel and cost-effective method to detect CKD for the rural and poor patients.
