Abstract

This study investigated the influence of parent-child intimacy, sensitivity to rejection, and empathy on the control of dating relationships among female college students. In 2016, 116 women enrolled in liberal arts classes at four universities in D city responded to structured questionnaires. The data were analysed with step-wise multiple regression. Rejection sensitivity (β =-.210, p = .003) and emotional empathy (β = .261, p = .008) were among the factors influencing control in dating relationships among the female college students. These variables explained 10.0% of the variance in dating relationship control (F = 5.244, p = .002).
