Abstract
Various kinds of scintillators are being used in the basic sciences for purposes such as particle, nuclear physics experiment, and in applied fields such as radiation detection and medical imaging, and in industry. Currently, scintillator research is ongoing in many fields. In this study, we synthesized the HgMoO4 scintillator by sintering mercuric oxide (HgO) and molybdenum oxide (MoO3). After, we measured the XRD pattern of the synthesized powder and then compared the result of it with the reference data. The synthesized HgMoO4 powder has strong luminescence irradiated with the ultraviolet light. Also, we measured the emission spectrum induced by X-ray and the luminescence decay time induced by laser irradiation. Furthermore, we compared the scintillation properties of HgMoO4 with the X-ray emission spectrum, light yield and decay time of CaMoO4.
