Abstract
In this paper, the effects of an auxiliary pulse on the self-erasing discharge using the ramped-square sustain pulse are examined at 100 KHz. It is found that the auxiliary pulse, which induces no additional discharge current, plays a role in strengthening the weak main discharge intensity caused by a self-erasing discharge. Therefore, the ramped-square with an auxiliary pulse improves both the luminance of 20% and the luminous efficiency of 25% at 100 KHz, when compared with the conventional square sustain pulse.
