Abstract
Silica-scaled chrysophytes (Synurophyceae) have been studied from 13 sites in Jeju Island, Korea, using scanning electron microscopy. Twenty-five species belonging to Mallomonas (20) and Synura (5) and four unidentified Mallomonas species were found. Among the species observed, 10 Mallomonas species are reported for the first time from Korea. The flora of silicascaled chrysophytes from Jeju Island differs considerably from that of the Korean Peninsula, and includes both temperate and tropical species.
