Abstract

The structural refinement of nano barium titanate (BaTiO3) powder was investigated by the diffraction data. It was observed that the mass fraction of the cubic and tetragonal phases of the barium compound was 82.0% and 18.0%. It was also observed that when the primary particle size of BaTiO 3 was smaller then 1.0 μm, the dielectric constant decreased due to the change of crystal system from tetragonal to cubic. The result shows that the critical primary particle size of the hydrothermally synthesized BaTiO 3 powders may be around 100nm.
