Abstract
An updated comprehensive list of the Middle East species of the subfamily Cardiochilinae is provided. The list includes 22 valid species in five genera (Bohayella Belokobylskij, 1987, Cardiochiles Nees, 1819; Pseudcardiochilus Hedwig, 1957, Retusigaster Dangerfield, Austin & Whitfield, 1999, and Schoenlandella Cameron, 1905). The cardiochiline species are reported from only four of the Middle East countries, Egypt, Iran, Israel-Palestine, and Turkey, of which Egypt and Iran are found to be the most species rich, each with 11 species. In total, 12 species are recorded to be endemic to the Middle East region. Distributions in the Middle East countries and extralimital, as well as host records, are presented for each species. A simplified key to genera is also provided.
