Abstract
Novel poly(silylenemethylene)s containing mesogenic side chains linked through a Si-O-C bond were prepared by using a simple nucleophilic substitution reaction between poly(chloromethylsilylenemethylene) and the corresponding side chains. This method has no side reactions and lead to an essentially complete substitution of Si-Cl bond on the base polymer's backbond.
