Abstract

For the purpose of providing the end-to-end reliability in MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Networks), there have been many schemes proposed to improve TCP performance. However, most of them require lots of modifications to the TCP mechanism. Recently, SCTP (Stream Control Transmission Protocol) has attracted much attention with its peculiar feature such as multi-streaming and multi-homing in terms of higher throughput and resilience to path failure than TCP. In this paper, through ns-2 simulation, we investigate the applicability of SCTP to MANET, propose and evaluate an efficient multiple address auto-configuration technique to make the best use of SCTP multi-homing feature.
