Abstract
As recently material factors have been partially or fully adopted in KCI and KIBSE (LSD), it is required to investigate the effect of the material factors on shear design provisions for reinforced concrete beams. This study investigated the effect of the material factors on the shear design provisions in KCI. For the investigation, total 130 reinforced concrete beams with stirrups have been selected. Through comparison of the test results and the shear design provisions, required strength reduction factors were evaluated with consideration of probabilistic distribution. Then, the required strength reduction factors were compared to the equivalent strength reduction factors with the material factors. Through the comparisons, reliability of the shear design provisions were analyzed. The analysis indicated that the reliability with the material factors were similar to the one with the strength reduction factor. Since this study has been conducted with the limited test data, further study is required with more general test results.
