Abstract
Triarylbismuthines (Ar3Bi: Ar = C6H5, 4-MeC6H4, 4-MeOC6H4, 4-ClC 6H4) react with atmospheric pressure of carbon monoxide in acetonitrile, tetrahydrofuran or methanol at 25°C in the presence of a catalytic amount of either [RhCl(CO)2]2 or RhCl 3·3H2O to produce the corresponding diaryl ketones in good yields, methyl benzoates being also formed in methanol.
