The lifting-based DWT filter hardware design for JPEG2000

Abstract

JPEG2000 will be the international standard to tone still image coding in next generation. JPEG2000 is different from JPEG algorithm in filtering and coding. In this thesis, we propose DWT filter hardware to improve performance. Hardware module which the DWT operation is designed by Verilog-HDL and by ISE 6.3i. As a result of implementing DWT, a speed gain of about 35 times is achieved when a did DWT by software.
