Abstract

In this paper, the design method of an ultra-wideband, surface-mountable frequency doubler is presented. At the input and output paths of the doubler, two ultra-wideband baluns are utilized: microstrip-to-parallel stripline and microstrip-to-CPS baluns. Also, a microstrip-to-CPW transition with vias is used for the surface-mountable transition. The implemented two-layered, packaged frequency doubler provides typical 12 dB conversion loss for output frequencies from 4 to 20 GHz with high odd-order harmonic rejection.
